Locust and Grasshoppers, Oh My!
Zone D: Tempe campus
Locusts and grasshoppers have a long history of coexisting with humans, but acridid outbreaks and their management continue to have devastating impacts on human livelihoods and the environment. At the ASU Open Door 2022, the Global Locust Initiative (GLI) will present K-12 students with the opportunity to interact and learn about grasshoppers and locusts from experts. Youth will be able to watch live grasshoppers eat food, learn about their life history, and the various projects led by the GLI and its collaborators. You will even be able to hold live grasshoppers and feed them plants directly!
