Lab on a Chip Demo

Zone C: Tempe campus

Lab-on-chip devices can be used for health monitoring and disease (e.g. cancer) diagnostics. They consist of tiny structures that are in the micrometer (1 millionth of one meter) and nanometer (1 billionth of one meter) scale that can effectively interact with important biomolecules such as DNA and extracellular vesicles (a very promising cancer biomarker). We will show the audience our lab-on-chip devices that we use in research to detect single DNA molecules and extracellular vesicles and we also play videos showing single-molecule motions of these biomolecules. The audience will also be able to visualize DNA molecules on a fluorescence microscope.
